About 500 people filled the auditorium at Salmon Creek School to
catch the last Bay Area performance of The Asante Children’s Choir.
The group of talented kids from Rwanda, Africa rocked the house
with traditional African dances, drumming, songs, a modern rap and
a few Christmas Carol Remixes. Many in the pleased crowd have seen
the group perform before, and some of the children in the choir who
are orphans, have been sponsored by local individuals and churches.
Pat Parks, Pastor at Bodega Bay Church spoke emotionally of the
performing children’s circumstances and members of the church have
traveled to the area of East Africa that is recovering from civil
wars and genocide. Parks, who was hoping for a turnout of about 200
people, was surprised and pleased at the overwhelming
attendance.
