Healdsburg police are investigating a suspected arson fire to a
city of Healdsburg work truck just after midnight last Thursday
morning.
The truck was parked on Allan Court in a parking lot behind City
Hall.
Healdsburg Police Lt. Kevin Young said the department is waiting
for test results from the fire, which will take several weeks.
“It’s definitely suspicious and we are treating it as an arson,”
he said.
The tests determine whether accelerants were used in the arson
and what started the fire.
The Healdsburg Police and Fire Department responded to the call
at 12:15 a.m. last Thursday morning, but the fire had already
consumed the truck. The fire was contained to the work truck, and
one other city of Healdsburg truck suffered heat and smoke
damage.
After the fire was put out, it was discovered that six other
city vehicles in the parking lot had their tires slashed.
The fire is being investigated as an arson.
The preliminary cost of damage to Healdsburg city vehicles is
more than $20,000.
