New year, new binging
It’s easy to get introspective this time of year, and I’m no exception. One can look to the new year and come up with a lot of navel gazing.
This is not that. This is a far more frivolous version of what I am looking forward to in 2019.
On the entertainment front, I absolutely cannot wait for new seasons of “Game of Thrones” and “Lucifer.” Squee! Also like a zillion movies are coming out that I’m jazzed for, like “Captain Marvel,” “Avenger’s Endgame” (tissues likely needed), the new Godzilla movie, the next (and perhaps final) Star Wars and the live action “The Lion King.” I’m not particularly looking forward to “Detective Pikachu,” but my 9-year-old is. He really, really, really is. So, yay.
Geek cred? Oh yeah, I got it.
Locally, I’m looking forward to the Windsor Day Parade – who doesn’t love a parade? – and the return of summer and all its activities on the Green. Farmers market dinners, warm weather music. Bring it on.
I was looking forward to an election-free year, but between the local issues surrounding the California Voting Rights Act and the fact that nationally 2019 will likely just become “Election 2020, The Prequel,” I think I probably won’t have that to look forward to after all.

District elections meeting
Speaking of the CVRA and Windsor’s targeting by a Malibu law firm, there will be an open meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. to allow the community to discuss the possibilities as it relates to district elections. While this topic may feel a bit dry, its could substantially change the way your vote is counted in the governance of your town going forward. So, go to the meeting, learn about the issues and make your voice heard.
Get Well Soon, Mark Millan
Former councilmember Mark Millan is undergoing surgery for “acute frozen shoulder.” He broke his collarbone in a fall from his bicycle in August and despite some surgery at the time of injury, further treatment is necessary. In addition to the frozen shoulder, he also has damage to his rotator cuff. Feel better soon!
New Managing Editor
I’d like to welcome our new managing editor Andrew Pardiac, who joined the team just after the first of the year. He comes to us from Michigan by way of Sedona, Ariz., and will bring a new voice to both The Windsor Times and our sister papers. Welcome, Andrew.
