Private services have been held for Arnold Haug who passed away peacefully on November 13th, 2018, surrounded by his beloved and adoring family. Arnold was born December 23rd, 1929, in Elk Point, South Dakota. He married his high school sweetheart Ruthita Haug, who also happened to share his birthday. Arnold went into the Marines in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1953. After being discharged from the Marines, Arnold and Ruthita relocated to Cloverdale, California, where they have lived for the past 70 years.
Arnold started Cloverdale Cabinets in 1953. He was known throughout Northern California as a master woodworker with the ability to design and construct anything. His reputation and work ethic kept him so busy that he often worked seven days a week just to meet his demands. His son David learned from Arnold and worked by his side every day. Arnold was very passionate about his work and continued to work up until the day before he fell ill.
Arnold’s greatest love in life was his wife of 70 years, Ruthita. They were inseparable in life and the pillars around which a strong and loving family was built. Arnold was very proud of his family and loved getting together for family dinners and holidays. He received great fulfillment in supporting and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and other functions. Arnold was a constant source of love and support for his family.
Arnold was a source of inspiration for whomever he came into contact with. He treated everyone with kindness and respect and never said a bad word about anyone. His values were second to none. His gentle soul, kind heart and loving nature will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Arnold was preceded in death by his son Raymond. Arnold is survived by his devoted wife Ruthita. He is also survived by his children Heidi (Randy) Raabe, Annie (Tom) Mertle and David Haug. He also is survived by his loving grandchildren: Ryan, Rhonda and Renee Raabe; Garrett, Monica and Heidi Mertle; and Dustin, Dana, Tim and Megan Haug. Arnold is also survived by 14 great grandchildren.
