The first Healdsburg City Council meeting of 2018 began in a traditional manner, with the new mayor thanking and acknowledging last year’s mayor for a year of service and presenting him a plaque that featured a gavel and inscription.
Brigette Mansell, the 2018 mayor, called 2017 mayor Shaun McCaffery, “A hard working man who really walks your talk,” and said that he “demonstrated a lot of commitment in tangible ways.”
All the council members praised McCaffery for keeping the council focused during sometimes challenging meetings on difficult topics.
Leah Gold thanked him for “being concise and straightforward” and Joe Naujokas noted his “get ‘er done attitude.”
McCaffery thanked his fellow council members. “It was a great year,” he said. “There were some ups and downs and interesting moments. I think we all worked well together.”
