So we made it through the first of these two back-to-back storms coming through. Healdsburg reportedly got around 4 to 6 inches of rain over the past few days, since it started coming down early Wednesday morning — and forecasters say another big storm should hit sometime later today or tonight, unleashing an additional 2 to 4 inches of rain through Monday. Scattered showers could then continue well into next week. As for this weekend, here’s what to know: “A rapidly strengthening low pressure system over the California coastal waters late Saturday night and Sunday will bring increasingly HEAVY rain, STRONG and GUSTY southerly winds” to our area, weather officials say. A flood watch will be in effect from 4 p.m. today through 10 a.m. on Monday morning. During that time, “excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations,” the National Weather Service says. “Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded.” To that end, county officials plan to close “five flood-prone roads on the outskirts of Windsor and Forestville” just to our south ahead of the storm, the Press Democrat reports — after a woman whose car got stuck in the floodwaters Wednesday night had to be rescued from that same area near Mark West Station Road and Eastside Road where someone died in their stranded car last year. So if you’re out there on the roads this weekend, be extra careful! (Source: National Weather Service & NWS via Twitter & SF Gate & Press Democrat & Press Democrat; paywall)
