Anita Kathleen Nagode Dixon passed from this life to her eternal
life in heaven on February 24, 2005. Anita was born in Moon Run,
Pennsylvania to Frank and Agnes Nagode on June 25, 1919, the second
youngest of 10 children. She was the loving mother of Donald Dixon,
Kenneth Dixon and wife Shana, and Susan Dixon Matheny of
Healdsburg; the sister of Pauline Benzie of Orange; the
sisters-in-law to Millie Nagode of Villa Park, and Mollie Nagode of
Ohio; the grandmother of Julie DeNault of San Clemente, Donny Dixon
of Fountain Valley, Kyle Dixon of San Clemente, and Wesley Matheny
of Healdsburg; mother-in-law to Kathy Dixon; she is also survived
by numerous nieces, nephews, and their families. She is preceded in
death by her husband, Donald Dixon, her parents, her brothers
Charles, Henry, Daniel and Richard Nagode, and her sisters Frances
Marco, Mary Lusin, Jean Sitter, and Agnes Debevec. Anita owned and
operated Cypress Cleaners for many years with her husband Don until
his passing in 1964. She continued to operate the cleaners on her
own for another 15 years. She worked for Honey Baked Ham in Orange
as a catering supervisor for almost 20 years until her retirement.
A life-long member of the YLI, she served as President, and as
trustee, numerous times. She was a member of the National Slovene
Society and a loyal parishioner of both St. Boniface and St.
Norbert’s church. She enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas with her
family and she played bingo almost to the end! Her smiling face and
unselfish love will be missed by all her knew her. A funeral mass
was held at St. Norbert’s Church in Orange with burial following at
Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to the
