Tigers soccer star ready to take game to next level
Analy soccer star Samantha Zepponi realized a life-long dream this month, inking a letter of intent to attend the University of Notre Dame on an athletic scholarship.
The four-year standout had been on the Notre Dame radar since her sophomore year, and ultimately chose to play for the Fighting Irish over other schools including USC, based on several factors.
“I really liked the environment and felt comfortable there when I visited the campus,” she said. “It just felt like home.”
Zepponi, who carries a 3.8 grade point average, has been at the core of a championship run for the Lady Tigers since joining the team as a freshman, helping to lead Analy to four league titles and yearly trips to the North Coast Section playoffs. She is a two-time league MVP.
The road to North Bend Indiana has been a product of hard work, determination and the help of others, and Zepponi was quick to acknowledge the many people who helped her along the way.
“I’d like to thank my parents, my trainer Messias Sousa, and Analy coaches Joseph Heil, Brittany Briones, and Bob Ryan,” she said, while citing playing alongside older sister Colette as a highlight at Analy. “I’m very grateful for the experiences I’ve had and the opportunity that I’ve been given.”
In college Zepponi plans to major in either Dermatology or Science.
