FORESTVILLE – The annual “Apple Match” between rivals El Molino and Analy  lived up to all advanced billing on Jan. 20, as the teams waged a great battle that wasn’t decided until the final match.
Both teams showed their strengths, as Analy won most of the lighter weight classes, while El Mo captured the majority of the upper weight divisions.
Recording wins for Analy were 134-pound Austin Henry, 108-pound Trevor Bagan, 115-pound Dalton Gavriloff, 122-pound Justin Adams,147-pound Yogi Bazzano and 154-pound Dustin Blumenthal. The Tigers also won two weight classes by forfeit.
Scoring mat wins for the Lions were 162-pound Thomas Mitchell, 172-pound Josh Wright, 184-pound Christian Ohlin and 197-pound Leo Garza. El Molino claimed one win by forfeit.
In addition to the dual meet, both teams sent a contingent of wrestlers to the annual King of the Mat Tournament hosted by Windsor High School, a meet that included many of the best wrestlers in Northern California and Nevada.
Analy’s 106-pound veteran Trevor Bagan was the top local finisher and one of just four athletes from the Redwood Empire to win their weight class, capturing first place in the 108-pound division.  Analy finished in 10th place overall.
