West county high school softball teams endured a similar fate in a flurry of recent North Bay League outings, with Analy and El Molino capturing one win in two games.
The Tigers (1-1, 2-5) gained an even split in the NBL Oak Division, beginning the stretch with a 7-6 loss at Montgomery before rebounding to pound visiting Ukiah, 14-2. Analy will be back on the diamond this week with scheduled road games at Maria Carrillo (April 9, after press time), Pinole Valley (April 10) and Windsor (April 11). All games start at 4 p.m.
Meanwhile the Lions (1-1, 5-7) kept pace in the NBL Redwood Division, combining a 14-0 rout at Elsie Allen with an 8-7 loss to Santa Rosa in eight innings. El Molino will travel to Cardinal Newman (April 9) and Piner (April 11, 4 p.m.) and return home to host Healdsburg on April 16 at 4 p.m.
Tigers gain split
Analy’s April 2 visit to Montgomery was a lesson in frustration as the Tigers spotted the Vikings a 6-0 lead after two frames. Analy exploded with a six-run rally in the fifth inning, but it wasn’t quite enough as Montgomery hung on for a 7-6 win.
Carson Rasmussen (2 IP, 5 hits, 6 ERs, 2 Ks) took the loss while Olivia Franceschi (4 IP, 4 hits, ER, K) pitched well in relief. Top hitters included Samantha Caughie (1 for 1, 2 RBIs), Makayla Kraemer (1 for 4, run, RBI), Chloe Hadrich (1 for 4, run, RBI) and Lizzie Hoffman (1 for 3, run).
It was all Tigers in the April 4 clash with visiting Ukiah, pushing across 14 runs in the first three innings en route to a 14-2 rout in five.
Rasmussen (4 IP, 2 hits, 1 ER, 4 Ks) notched the win, while leading hitters were Hadrich (3 for 4, 2B, 3 runs, 4 RBIs), Brea Lawrence (2 for 2, 2B, 2 runs), Kraemer (2 for 3, 2B, 3 runs, RBI), Cameron Cordoza (1 for 1, run, 2 RBIs) and Rasmussen (1 for 4, 2 runs).
Lions claim “W”
El Molino wasted no time in an April 2 trip to Elsie Allen, jumping on Lobos’ pitching for 15 hits in a five-inning, 14-0 romp.
Katelyn Tourady (5 IP, 1 hit, 9 Ks) notched the victory, while top batters included Tourady (3 for 4, 2 2Bs, 4 runs, 3 RBIs), Natalie Alberigi (3 for 5, 2B, run, 2 RBIs), Ahnicka Kjaer (2 for 3, run, 2 RBIs), Bella Gaab (2 for 2, run, 2 RBIs), Bailey St. Marie (1 for 3, run), Kiara Garcia (1 for 3, run, RBI), Grace St. Marie (1 for 4, RBI), Erika Olson (1 for 4, 3 runs, RBI) and Bridget Niclaes (1 for 4, 2 runs).
The Lions were on the wrong end of an 8-7 loss to Santa Rosa on April 4, a game needing eight innings before being decided. Trailing 7-2, El Mo tallied five runs in the fifth inning to send it into extra frames knotted at 7-7. The magic ended in the eighth when the Panthers pushed across a solo run to escape with the win.
Tourady (8 IP, 13 hits, 6 ERs, 8 Ks) took a tough loss, while leading hitters were Gaab (2 for 4, 2 runs), Olson (2 for 2, 2 runs), Garcia (1 for 3, run, RBI), Grace St. Marie (1 for 2, run) and Niclaes (1 for 4, run).
