Analy and El Molino logged a busy stretch on the high school softball diamond, combining for nine games in a four-day period.
The Tigers (3-3, 7-9-1) kept pace in the North Bay League Oak Division with an even split, bouncing back from a 9-7 loss to Rancho Cotate with a 7-2 win over Montgomery.
Analy played another five games in the weekend Napa Tournament, scoring a win and tie with American Canyon (8-1, 4-4) and a victory over Windsor (7-0) while falling to Petaluma (8-1) and Casa Grande (6-0).
At press time the Tigers were to resume league action at Ukiah (April 23), and visit Maria Carrillo on Thursday, April 25. Analy will return home to host Windsor on Tuesday, April 30. All games start at 4 p.m.
The Tigers were derailed by one bad inning in the April 16 clash with visiting Rancho Cotate, as the Cougars erased a 4-2 deficit with a seven-run explosion in the fifth inning en route to a 9-6 win.
Olivia Franceschi (7 IP, 10 hits, 1 ER, 2 Ks) pitched well while top hitters were Makayla Kraemer (3 for 4, 3 runs), Samantha Caughie (2 for 3, 2B, 3 RBIs), Chloe Hadrich (2 for 3, run, 2 RBIs), Cameron Cordoza (1 for 4, run) and Brea Lawrence (1 for 4).
Analy was back in the win column two days later in a home tilt with Montgomery, riding the hot hand of Franceschi (7 IP, 6 hits, 2 ERs, 4 Ks) in powering to a 7-2 victory. Pacing the hitting attack were Kraemer (2 for 3, 2 runs), Cordoza (1 for 3, 2B, 4 RBIs), Caitlin Caughie (1 for 3), Sam Caughie (1 for 4, run), Carson Rasmussen (1 for 3, 2 runs, RBI) and Hadrich (1 for 3, 2 runs).
Lions roll
The Lions (4-2, 8-8) are enjoying their best softball season in years, adding wins over Healdsburg (4-2) and Elsie Allen (11-1) to their recent resume.
El Molino will enter the final third of the NBL Redwood Division schedule this week when they hit the road for games at Santa Rosa (April 23) and Cardinal Newman on April 25, at 4 p.m. The Lions will host Piner on April 30 at 4 p.m.
El Mo played one of their best all-around games on April 16 against visiting Healdsburg, getting a stellar outing from freshman pitcher Katelynn Tourady (7 IP, 7 hits, 2 ERs, 14 Ks) in a 4-2 victory. Top hitters were Erika Olson (1 for 4, 2B, 3 RBIs), Bridget Niclaes (1 for 3, run), Grace St. Marie (1 for 1, run) and Bella Gaab (1 for 4, run).
The Lions made short work of an overmatched visiting Elsie Allen squad on April 18, pounding out nine hits in an 11-1 win in five innings. Tourady (5 IP, 2 hits, 0 ERs, 12 Ks) notched the win, while leading batters included Gaab (2 for 3, 2 runs, RBI), Niclaes (2 for 4, run), Tourady (2 for 4, run, 3 RBIs), Bailey St. Marie (1 for 1, run), Kiara Garcia (1 for 2, run, RBI) and Natalie Alberigi (1 for 2, 2 runs).
