Spaghetti dinner and auction an annual event in the valley, Mar. 4

Alexander Valley School will host its 61st annual Spaghetti Dinner and Auction on Saturday March 4 at the Alexander Valley Hall in Geyserville at 5 p.m. This year, the community is invited to “set sail” on the “SS AVS” for a nautical themed event.
This is Alexander Valley School’s largest fundraiser, providing funds for art, music, and computers as well as field trips, library books, classroom supplies, school garden and site improvements.
The spaghetti dinner is a homemade meal, provided by the parents of the children, and served with local wines and homemade desserts. Once again, the salad will be made up in part by fresh produce grown in the school’s garden. Tickets for the event are $15 for adults and $5 for children 5 -12 years and free for children 4 and under.
Tickets will be on sale at the door starting at 5.00 p.m. Adults can also purchase a custom Govino glass enabling them to sample wines for the evening. An outdoor tent with activities and adult supervision is provided for school aged children to enjoy while parents participate in the live auction, which begins at 7 p.m.
The auction, both silent and live is supported by local businesses and wineries. Items up for auction include a private cave dinner at Robert Young Winery catered by Spinster Sisters restaurant; a family pool package at Francis Ford Coppola winery; a romantic getaway at the North Block Hotel in Yountville; and family accommodations in Tahoe – plus more packages. There are also a number of rare and premium wine lots and craft beer collections for auction.
As always, each class of students has worked hard at their handmade projects, which are also up for auction. This year’s projects include the first grade’s kayak adventure package, complete with an inflatable kayak and all the makings for a great day on the water; a sailboat sandbox made by the second grade class; and for the landlubber, the fourth grade class has a lawn party themed package with lawn games and party supplies.
Each year the event is dedicated to someone in the community who has supported and contributed to the success of the school in some way. This year, that honor goes to Annie Holden, former school board president, parent and longtime supporter.
Alexander Valley’s school new Principal and Superintendent, Matt Reno, will host the lively event and auction that is known for raising more than $80,000 annually.
