Poor air quality from the Butte County Fire forced the cancellation of the North Bay League Cross County Championships scheduled for Nov. 9-10.
League officials quickly rescheduled the meet for Nov. 13, but air quality did not improve. It is believed to be the first time since the NBL was formed in 1921 that the league finals have not been contested.
The Jaguars, unbeaten in both varsity boys and girls competition during the regular season, were declared champions of the NBL Redwood Division and will hang the first cross country pennant in school history.
The North Coast Section Championships will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17 at Hayward High School, beginning at 9 a.m.  Look for a full NCS recap next week.
