Editor: Last week my daughter unknowingly dropped her cell phone
at Big John’s parking lot. Luckily a phone call came the very next
morning from Ben who took the time to scroll to the last phone call
made and let me know his wife had found it. A few days later, I was
out on a long training run with the help of my daughter who was
driving ahead of me providing water, Gatorade and gels. However, we
had a miscommunication about the next location to hook up, and
ended up on opposite sides of Fitch Mountain. After an hour, I was
worried I wouldn’t make it home and began searching for a hose to
replenish my fluids. I approached a woman who was gardening and
asked if I could use her hose, but she said, “better yet, I will
give you a bottle of cold water.” How lucky to have such kindness
from complete strangers. That’s what makes Healdsburg such a
wonderful place to call home!
