The 17th annual “Pick of the Vine” wine tasting
and auction takes place on Saturday, April 17 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
at the Friedman Center, 4676 Mayette Avenue in Santa Rosa. The
fund-raiser benefits the Sonoma County Ombudsman Program of Senior
Advocacy Services. The tasting features award-winning wines from 35
Russian River Wine Road wineries and a variety of food samplings
from purveyors of gourmet foods. Live and silent auctions will
include wine, gift baskets, dinners, lodging, art and more. Tickets
for the event are $35 in advance, $40 at the door. The Sonoma
County Ombudsman Program supports and advocates for people in

The Council on Aging will hold its annual Derby Day
fund-raiser
on Saturday, May 1 at Sonoma-Cutrer Vineyards,
featuring a gourmet meal with local wines, a chef competition,
auction and the Kentucky Derby broadcast live. It all benefits the
