Quivira Vineyards will celebrate the release of
its newest wine (2003 Sauvignon Blanc, Fig Tree Vineyard) by having
the Hog Island Oyster Company shucking oysters in their cellar all
weekend long. The public is invited to the Quivira “Beach” (a.k.a.
the cellar) for a fun weekend. Wear your funkiest island-wear (but
your warmest, remember it’s in the cellar) and receive an
additional 5 percent off any bottle of wine. Wine tasting is free,
oysters are $1.50 each, no limit. Reservations are not
required.
If Cyrus Alexander were alive he would turn 200 this year and
Alexander Valley Vineyards will celebrate the
anniversary of their namesake on Friday and Saturday, March 11
& 12 with three-course candlelight dinners in the winery caves.
The highlight of the evening will be the introduction of the 2001
bottling of CYRUS, the winery’s premier, limited production wine.
Tickets for the dinner, paired AVV wines and prepared by winery
chef Jeff Young, are $100 per person. For reservations, call Lu
Hughes at 433-7209 x108.
