The Jimtown Store’s First Thursday Wine Bar
will honor one of the founding families of Alexander Valley
winegrowing, the Robert Young Estate Winery. The wine social is
from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and will feature their 2001 Alexander Valley
Chardonnay and their 2000 Alexander Valley Scion. The $20 admission
price includes wine paired with Jimtown’s tasting menu, with
garlic, and herb-roasted leg of lamb, cannellini bean, asparagus
and romesco bruschetta and chocolate-dipped macaroons.
Acorn Winery in Healdsburg will hold its first
“Alegria at Acorn” event on Saturday, May 15 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
at the winery, 12040 Old Redwood Hwy. Alegria is the name of the
winery’s vineyard and also means “happiness and joy.” The small
winery is seldom open to the public and this event is a chance to
sample the limited productions of zinfandel, sangiovese, dolcetto
and syrah. The event is free. (Acorn’s neighbors, Limerick Lane and
Christopher Creek wineries, also have special events planned that
day.)
