In a much chiller-than-usual kind of emergency for local firefighters, “a sheared fire hydrant created a water hazard on Clear Ridge Drive, in the Parkland Farms subdivision in Healdsburg” on Thursday, according to the Press Democrat. “City fire and water crews took about 15 minutes to find and close the valve after a driver hit the hydrant and fled the scene.”

Video and photos shot by Kent Porter (always on the scene!) show firefighters from the Healdsburg Fire Department and the Dry Creek Rancheria Fire Department wrestling with the hydrant — meanwhile getting fully soaked. Not a bad job for a hot summer weekday.
