As the kiddos of Healdsburg scrambled for Easter eggs on Sunday morning, a local crow caused a power outage that affected large swaths of the city, according to local officials. It all felt very mythical. “The first reports of lost power came in just after 11 am,” the Press Democrat reports. “Healdsburg Utility and Streets Emergency Hotline noted outages on Healdsburg Avenue, Matheson Street, Fitch Street, North Street and surrounding roads. The outage occurred when a crow flew into a power line causing a fault to be set off and a wire to fall, according to Healdsburg Utilities Director Terry Crowley.” By around 11:40 a.m., the city had issued the following alert to Healdsburg residents: “A major electrical outage occurred in the downtown area of Healdsburg. Some traffic lights were affected. Proceed with caution! Teams are working to address the problem as we speak.” And by 1 p.m., they issued this update: “At this time, all customers have been restored with the exception of businesses along Center Street facing the Plaza and the Community Center. Restoration for these customers is expected in forty-five minutes.” City officials tell the PD that they don’t know of any damage caused by the Easter outage, and that everyone had their power back by 1:40 p.m. So it was a swift and ceremonious Resurrection, if you will, for our local power grid… (Source: City of Healdsburg via Nixle & City of Healdsburg via Facebook & Press Democrat; paywall)
