Both will perform holiday music and lead the audience in a sing
along of traditional Christmas carols. Admission is a $5 to 10
donation. The Music Studio at Center for the Arts is located at
6780 Depot St. in Sebastopol. For information, call 829-4797.
Holiday cheer and brain
shrinkage
That second glass of eggnog may not be such a smart idea. A
study just released by John Hopkins University said that moderate
alcohol use may shrink the size of your brain. And contrary to
previous studies, may not reduce the risk of a stroke. A study of
1,909 middle-age and elderly people found that moderate drinkers
had smaller brains than those who abstained. While it was
impossible to determine from magnetic resonance imaging if the
small differences in brain size affected cognitive abilities, the
tests also found nothing to suggest that alcohol reduces the chance
of stroke. Moderate alcohol use may still be beneficial in terms of
coronary artery disease.
