The inimitable Michael Moore, the documentary filmmaker whose
“Bowling for Columbine” won an academy award, will speak at the
Sonoma County Fairgrounds in the Hall of Flowers on Saturday, Oct.
18 at 8 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Sonoma State University
Associated Students Productions.
Moore challenges the economic and political status quo with his
biting commentary and penetrating films. His film debut in 1989,
“Roger and Me,” introduced audiences to post-industrial American
with a real-life look at auto factory layoffs in Flint, Michigan.

Labor and Social Action at SSU
The Sixth Annual Labor and Social Action Conference will be held
on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24 and 25 at Sonoma State University.
The keynote speaker Friday night will be award-winning journalist
Amy Goodman, who will speak on “Staking a Claim for Democracy.” The
conference is sponsored by the North Bay Central Labor Council and
Sonoma State University and features workshops on local labor
issues, the health care crisis, electoral reform,
labor-environmental coalitions and much more. Cost for the entire
