Book Fair includes art events
The fifth annual Sonoma County Book Fair will combine the
literary and the visual arts. This year’s free festival takes place
Saturday, Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Old Courthouse Square
in Santa Rosa. The festival is dedicated to Charles M. Schulz, who
combined words and images in his beloved Peanuts comic strip. A
panel discussion and noon ceremony will honor the late
cartoonist.
A Book Arts booth will feature members of Friends of Calligraphy
showing their workS and local artists will demonstrate traditional
and comtemporary calligraphy. During the fair, ArtStart students
will paint a “readers bench” with an original design, and the bench
will remain as a permanent installation. Children’s authors and
illustrators will display original artwork and read from their
books. The entire fair is a free event and is a program of the
Literary Art Guild. It is sponsored by the Northern California
Independent Booksellers Associaton and the Sonoma County Public
Library. Call 527-2412 for more information.
