Whimsical folk artists on TV show Sebastopol
artist Patrick Amiot and his wife Brigitte Laurent are the subjects
of a video that will be aired on public TV station KRCB on
Saturday, Jan. 22 at 11:30 p.m. While they may not be ready for
prime time, the Sebastopol artists have made a definite impression
on the local landscape. Amiot’s large whimsical sculptures, using
recycled materials, now dominate the Florence Avenue neighborhood,
as well as other Sebastopol locations.
Putting the sting in the DUI season Santa Rosa
and Petaluma police teamed up last week to put an extra sting into
the countywide Avoid the 13 program, which was aimed at cutting
down on drunk drivers during the holidays. There were 72 subjects
who appeared in court Jan. 10 following their holiday DUI arrests.
They were followed out of court and eight of them were arrested for
driving without a license or on a suspended license. Maybe this
time they’ll get the message.
