Best B&B
Healdsburg’s Grape Leaf Inn was recently selected by NBC11’s In
Wine Country program as ”Best Place to Rest Your Head“ in
that TV program’s first Golden Grape Awards. Viewers were asked to
select favorite locations for winery tasting rooms, pet-friendly
getaways, dining experiences, favorite spas, romantic settings and
other Wine Country favorites. Grape Leaf Inn was the only
Healdsburg or northwestern Sonoma County selection. Yountville’s
The French Laundry topped the eating choices, and Rutherford’s
Auberge du Soleil was voted ”best place to rekindle a
romance.“ The full list is at www.inwinecountry.com.
Sonoma Bugle
You have to be an ”old-timer“ to remember The Sonoma
Bugle, a ”free“ newspaper from the late 1960s and early
1970s which was started by students at Sonoma State University when
it was still a college. Well, there’s a reunion of staff and
friends scheduled for Oct. 15 – 16 in Cotati. Anyone claiming to be
from that era is invited to attend. There will be a dinner
gathering at Sweet Lou’s on Saturday, Oct. 15, with a dance to
follow at the Tradewinds. A picnic will take place on Sunday in
Cotati’s Plaza Park at 3 p.m. Former SSU students and Bugle
staffers have gone on to professions in journalism, law, education
and other great things.
