Among 19 Sonoma County business and community leaders are
several local people set to be honored Dec. 1 at the 5th annual
Spirit of Sonoma County Awards, sponsored by the Economic
Development Board. Each person was selected by a local chamber of
industry association. The honorees include Healdsburg’s Ken
Rochioli, Windsor’s Nick Desai, Sebastopol’s Wendy Powers,
Guerneville’s Jennifer Neeley, North County grapegrowing pioneer
Lou Foppiano Sr., Farm Bureau honoree Kathy Denner Reese and Bodega
Bay’s Don Buttaro. The public is invited to attend the 11:30
a.m.luncheon at the Rohnert Park Doubletree Hotel. Admission is $40

River stewards
The Russian River Watershed Council recently awarded five
stewardship awards to longtime river friends. Brenda Adelman
received a Lifetime Achievement award; Brock Dolman was honored as
a Shaker of the Mover and Shaker award, while Karen McCabe earned
the Mover part of the same award; Karen Rippey, of the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers, received a partnership award; and, Rudolph
Light received the John Wesley Powell Stewardship award for
multiple projects in the upper reaches of the Russian River above
Ukiah.
