will compete Saturday, May 7, for top honors in the 2005 Sonoma
County Chefs Competition at Derby Day, the major fund-raiser for
the Council on Aging’s Meals on Wheels program. Charlie Palmer of
Dry Creek Kitchen, Jeffrey Madura of John Ash & Co. and last
year’s winning chef, Randy Lewis of Seven O Seven, will duke it out
for official bragging rights as best chef. They will be assisted by
celebrity sous chefs Saralee Kunde, Gail Dutton and John Sawyer.
Guests will enjoy a four-course luncheon prepared by Michael
Salinger and students in the Culinary Arts Program at Santa Rosa
Junior College, Jeff Mall of Zin Restaurant and Wine Bar, Mark
Stark of Willi’s Wine Bar and Scott Noll of John Ash & Co. The
event includes a reception featuring Sonoma County wines, a live
and silent auction and a broadcast of the running of the 2005
Kentucky Derby. Derby Day is from 1-5 p.m. at Sonoma-Cutrer
Vineyards, 4401 Slusser Rd., Windsor. Tickets are $175 per person.
