SPONSORED – If you live in Sonoma County, you’ve likely seen Food for Thought volunteers collecting food donations at local grocery stores nearly every weekend of the year. And if you’ve ever donated food, money, or time as a volunteer, everyone at Food For Thought thanks you!
Food For Thought is a nonprofit that provides healing food and nutrition to 700 people affected by serious illnesses in Sonoma County. We offer life-sustaining services at no charge to qualified residents throughout the county who are ill and at risk of malnutrition.
We provide over 300,000 meals per year to our neighbors in need. Our services eliminate food insecurity, reduce hospital visits and medical expenses, and improve our clients’ health conditions and quality of life.
OUR LONG TABLE: DON’T MISS OUR NEW EVENT!
Gather your friends and join us at Our Long Table, a special benefit to support our expanded services and programs. At this summer evening fundraiser, you’ll enjoy refreshing wines, music by the popular band Dgiin, wonderful food and an exciting (and short!) live auction. Award-winning author and food connoisseur Michele Anna Jordan created a delicious menu for the sit-down, long-table dinner.

HEALING WITH FOOD + LOVE
Food For Thought was founded in 1988 to provide nutritious food and compassion to people living with HIV/AIDS. Over time, our services have evolved to provide comprehensive nutrition services, including:

  • Specialty food bank where clients select from healthy food choices, including groceries, fresh produce, prepared meals, vitamins and supplements
  • Countywide delivery of specialty food bank offerings to homebound and homeless clients
  • Individual nutrition counseling and cooking classes supervised by a Registered Dietitian
  • A freshly prepared lunch program held onsite three days a week
  • Bags of Love: Healthy, nonperishable food distributed in paper bags to clients who are ill and homeless

We are part of the growing Food Is Medicine movement, which advocates that healthy food can prevent or limit illness and aid in healing. Our programs follow evidence-based nutritional guidelines to help people recover and sustain their health.
Food For Thought’s growth and success speaks greatly to the goodwill of the people of Sonoma County. We have one of the county’s most active volunteer programs, with some 500 people annually donating their time and energy to our programs. Volunteers assist clients in the food bank, deliver food orders to homebound individuals, cook food at the Shone Farm kitchen, help in our organic garden, collect donations at our weekly food drives and much more.
