Patricia Ann Hicks
Patricia Hicks, longtime resident of Cloverdale, died on Saturday, Aug. 6, in Fresno. Patricia was born in Haines, Alaska in 1933 where her father was stationed. The family moved to California and settled in Los Gatos where Patricia graduated high school with a goal of becoming a teacher. She achieved that goal and acquired positions in Duarte, Glen Ellen and Cloverdale. Her keenest pursuits were educating the young, caring for her church family, providing for her children, creating art and playing the piano.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, James Hicks. She leaves behind her brother, Franz Klitza; five children, Lisa Cerveny, Truda Reynolds, Miria Hinman, Nathan Hicks and Norman Hicks; 10 grandchildren, Heather, Shawna, Nolan, Rose, Winnie, Heidi, Shelby, Shannon, Alison and Katherine; and two great-grandchildren, Braeden and Kindall.
A viewing will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, at the Boise Funeral Home, 308 Pollasky Ave., Clovis, CA. An 11 a.m. service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20, at Trinity Southern Baptist, 4890 E. Holland Ave., Fresno, CA. According to her son Norman: “I found that my mom had only kind words and sage advice for those who knew her. She was a shining inspiration.”
Martin Dwight Briggs
Martin Dwight Briggs died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Cloverdale, California, on July 13, 2016 at 3:30 p.m., under the watchful care of an angel from his church, Grace Lutheran Church in Cloverdale. Martin was born July 1, 1951 in San Jose, California. A memorial will be held on September 10, 2016 at 1 p.m. at King’s Valley Senior Apartments located at 100 Kings Circle, Cloverdale, in the clubhouse. In lieu of cards, flowers or other sentiments, please donate to the Cancer Society or the Humane Society in Martin’s name.
