Long-time Cloverdale resident Karen Selbach died unexpectedly on June 22.
Karen was the main checker/manager at the Cloverdale Food Center, owned and operated by Norman and Linda Pardini. They were blessed to have Karen as an employee for 15 years. She trained the legions of young people for whom this was their first job. Karen loved those kids and they loved her. She regularly attended (and cheered at) their sports events, and celebrated their graduations from C.H.S. But Karen did not love shoplifters. She would track suspects up and down the aisles—to the ends of the earth, if necessary—before she’d let them steal from “her boss,” Linda and Norm. She was very proud of her close relationship with the Pardini family and the trust they placed in her. Karen was family to everyone who loved her. She had a gift for loving people.
She is survived by her daughter Roberta (James) Toninato; sons Jesse (Amanda) Wills and Jacob (Heather) Wills; granddaughters Ashley and Peyton; and grandsons Austin, Corbin and Ethan; also, by her great friend Joey Daly; her friend Eddie Kong, and hundreds of friends and admirers.
Karen was unique. There won’t be another like her.
We love you and miss you, Karen, and keep you in our hearts.
