Freda N. Smith, 90, of Sebastopol, died in Santa Rosa after an
accidental fall on March 4. She was born, raised and educated in
Missouri. She moved to Sonoma County during the depression in 1937.
Freda attended the Hessel Church, the Sebastopol Methodist Church,
and was active in the Fircrest Mobile Home community. She loved
flower and vegetable gardening, fishing, traveling and going out to
dinner. Freda was a loving caregiver to many elderly people. She is
survived by her husband of 41 years, Joe Junior Smith, her sons
Lewis Green and Kenneth Green, daughter-in-law Lori Green,
grandchildren Garrett Green, Doug Green, Lance Green, Lorna LaBeau,
Monica Green, Phyllis Johnson, Vince Green and Dolph Green,
stepchildren Chris Brown and husband Ivan, Cindy Nelson, Joe Smith
and Jeff Smith, 11 great grandchildren, sister Frances Bohn and
numerous family and friends, including her dear friends Maggie
Baird and Evelyn LaBlue. Freda was preceded in death by her sons
Herman and Gerald Green, two sisters and a brother. Memorial
contributions may be made to Sutter VNA Hospice of Santa Rosa.
