George W. Rutz, 89, passed away on Thursday, June 17 in Olympia,
Washington. George was born on December 28, 1914 in Barling,
Arkansas to Jacob and Ellen (Spear) Rutz. On April 6, 1934 he
married Margaret Turner who survives him. The couple lived in
Healdsburg where George was a welder, mechanic and prune rancher.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with his
wife traveling in their travel trailer. He was a member of St.
Andrews United Methodist Church in Lacey, Washington. Survivors
include his wife; two daughters-in-law, Shirley Rutz of Lodi,
California, and Carla Rutz of Olympia; four grandchildren, Jayna
Rutz and Jeremy Rutz of Lodi, Renee’ Rutz (husband, Robert Zdebski)
of Portland, Oregon, and Robin Nydam (husband, Ken). His sons Jerry
and Jacob preceded him in death. A memorial service was held on
Monday, June 21, 2004 at St. Andrews United Methodist Church in
Lacey, Washington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St.
Andrews United Methodist Church.
