Former West County resident Phillip Robert (Bob) Vidal III, 91,
died on Dec. 9 in Sacramento. Born in Colorado, he raised his
family on a farm in Freestone and worked as a meat cutter in the
Sebastopol area. An avid horseman and golfer, he served as
commentator for the Occidental Catholic Church, a founding member
of the Freestone Horsemen and a member of Mountain Shadows Senior
Mens Golf Club. Upon retirement at age 58, Bob and Helen enjoyed
golf and travel in their motorhome. Preceded in death by his wife
of 63 years, Helen, he is survived by his children Phillip Robert
Vidal IV (Lule), Jean Barker (Darold), Ann Dean (Norman) and
Patricia Elliott (Steve), his grandchildren Stacey Taddeo, June
Vidal, P. Robert Vidal V, Gary Bradley, Shelli Campbell, Daun
Snodgrass, Laura Lewis, Andrea Dean, Scott Dean, Stephen Elliott,
11 great grandchildren and his sister, Peg, of Chico.
