her husband, Paul Leppert of Sebastopol. For years she attended
Sonoma County Board of Supervisors meetings and alerted community
members about any items that might impact the environment. Born in
Tennessee, she served for several years as a U.S. Navy Pentagon
officer and taught high school English for six years. She and her
husband studied the Chinese language for three years in Taiwan. She
traveled around the world extensively throughout her life, and was
active in Sonoma County environmental causes. She was preceded in
death by her parents Marie Colley Shanks and Hunter Colley and
stepfather Willis Shanks. She is survived by her daughter Valerie
Leppert, son-in-law Ronald Simenauer, grandchildren Jonah and
Danielle Leppert-Simenauer, her siblings Virginia Colley Whitaker,
Carolyn Colley, Billie Good, Ellen Shanks Hite and Thomas Shanks,
siblings-in-law Leanne and Jack Morgan and cousins Pat and Chuck
Hartmann. Donations in her memory may be made to any Sonoma County
environmental cause. There will be a memorial service from 1 to 4
