Marjorie Cooper Ruggles passed away peacefully at her home in
Sebastopol on December 22, 2002 at the age of 82. Marjorie, loving
daughter of Victor and Martha Cooper, and sister to June Cooper,
grew up in Southern California, graduated from Monrovia High School
(Class of 1938) and was a member of Job’s Daughters. After marrying
Lee Ruggles, the young couple settled in Marin County to raise a
family. Through the years, Marjorie was a founding member of The
Pottery in San Rafael, a volunteer nurse’s aide at Marin General
Hospital, and provided a foster home for Marin teens. After moving
to Sebastopol in the early ’80s, she spent her time gardening and
did frequent volunteer work at the library. Marjorie is survived by
her three sons, Stephen Ruggles of Healdsburg, David Ruggles of San
Anselmo, Victor Ruggles of Sebastopol and by her two loving
grandchildren, Andrew and Amanda. At her request, no formal
services will be held. If desired, contributions can be made in her
name to the charity of your choice.
