Glenn Allen Meier passed away at home on Saturday, January 4,
2003 after a brief illness. He was 46 years old. Glenn was born in
Healdsburg, the son of Dolores Meier and the late Rudy Meier. He
was hit by a car when he was three years old and spent his life in
a wheelchair. He never gave up hope of someday walking again. He
became known around his neighborhood as “Glenn the Can Man.” He
collected cans to raise money for a trip to Disneyland (his big
dream), but was never able to go. Everyone who knew Glenn loved
him. His wonderful sense of humor and love of people made him a
very special person. No words can express how much he will be
missed. He was our bright and shining star. In addition to his
mother, Glenn is survived by his loving brothers Gary Meier and
Jeff Meier, both of Healdsburg, Greg Meier and his wife Kelly Meier
of Alexander Valley, his beloved nieces and nephew Jessica Meier of
Santa Rosa and Shaina and Rudy Meier of Alexander Valley. Instead
of flowers, donations can be made to the Healdsburg Animal Shelter.
Services will be held on Sunday, January 12 at 4 p.m. at Fred Young
& Company, 428 North Cloverdale Boulevard in Cloverdale.
