Lawrence “Larry” C. Berg died Dec. 4, 2002 in Santa Rosa at the
age of 80. He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Elvera “Ellie”
Berg of Windsor, adored father and father-in-law of Carole and
Larry Silva of Santa Rosa, and Marcia and Bruce Baswell of Windsor,
and the admired grandfather of five grandchildren and five great
grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Yakima, Washington on Dec. 16, 1923, Mr. Berg moved with
his family to Pasadena, California in 1939 where he played the
trumpet with the Tournament of Roses band while attending Pasadena
City College. Mr. Berg served his country in the U.S. Navy as a
bugle master on aircraft carriers in the Atlantic and Pacific
Oceans during World War II. He was an electrical contractor for 15
years and had to retire due to his health. He moved with his wife
to Cave Junction, Oregon for 23 years. Mr. Berg was always ready to
lend a helping hand to those in need and was a loyal friend to
many. He loved art and music and was a skilled craftsman. To be
closer to family, the couple moved back to California and have
resided in the Windsor Mobile Country Club for the past year.
Memorial services were held on December 8, 2002 at North Coast
Christian Fellowship in Windsor. Inurnment at Santa Rosa Memorial
Park.
