Alex Mattson – Electronics engineer

Alex Mattson was born on March 26, 1960 and died on Feb. 2,
2008. He passed away at his home in Sunnyvale leaving behind his
beloved brother, Erik. He was predeceased by his mother, Thelma
Jane Mattson and his grandparents, Thelma and George M. Philpott,
Sr. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Diane, his nephew Joey
and his nieces Alexis and Shayla of Hidden Valley Lake. Alex is
also survived by his loving foster parents, Juris and Martha Ann
Valtenbergs of Sebastopol; his foster brothers, Eric Valtenbergs of
Windsor, Mark Valtenbergs of Eureka and Mark Howe of Santa Rosa;
his aunts Suzanne Philpott Sullivan of San Mateo and Linda Philpott
Londerville of Half Moon Bay; his uncle George Philpott, Jr. of
Rock Hill, S.C., and many cousins and friends. Alex was born in
Santa Monica, Calif., and raised in San Mateo County. He graduated
from Bellarmine College Preparatory, San Jose and Cal Poly in San
Luis Obispo. Alex retired from Hewlett Packard after 16 years as an
electronics engineer and was recently self-employed. A memorial
service will be held Monday, February 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Eggen and
Lance Chapel, 1540 Mendocino Avenue, Santa Rosa. Donations can be
