Lloyd M. ’ÄúBud’Äù Proaps passed away peacefully on Saturday,
Feb. 23, 2008 at the age of 83. “Bud” was a long-time Sebastopol
resident, he moved to Santa Rosa in 1989 with his late wife of 45
years, Helen. He is survived by his children, daughter Deborah
Dougan (Robert) of Redding; sons, Steve (Karan), of Cottonwood,
Calif., and Mitch (Amy), of Windsor. He was also an adored
grandfather to his five grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren, who always brought him joy. Bud was born in
Antonito, Colo., on Dec. 7, 1924. His family moved to California
where he later attended Analy High School until he entered the U.S.
Navy in 1943 to serve our country during World War II. He was a
Seaman first class aboard the U.S.S. Pennsylvania until his
honorable discharge in 1946. After the war, he joined the U.S.
Postal Service in Sebastopol where he served in various capacities,
including superintendent of postal operations, until his retirement
in 1980. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial
service at 12:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 29th at Sebastopol Christian
Church, where Bud was a long-time member, 7433 Bodega Ave. in
Sebastopol. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that
donations be made in his memory to Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW),
Post 3919 (Sebastopol).
