The Sonoma County Democratic Party’s central committee holds its
23rd annual Crab Feed fundraiser Friday, Feb. 25, at the Santa Rosa
Veterans Memorial Building.
California’s new Secretary for Natural Resources, John Laird, a
former California Assembly member and longtime environmental
advocate will be guest keynote speaker.
In addition to Laird the event will honor several local
political workers and supporters, including Don Frank, of
Occidental, Democrat of the Year; Michelle Edwards of Healdsburg,
Young Democrat of the Year; and Susan Moore, a Fountain Grove
resident and prominent Democratic fund raiser, for the 2011 Roberta
Hollowell Award, named after the long time Healdsburg High School
educator, community activist, environmentalist and Democratic
figure who died in 2006 at age 77.
Guy Conner, husband of retired state legislator Pat Wiggins,
will also be honored according to Sonoma County Democratic Part
Chair Stephen Gale.
Conner “is being recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award
called the Bob Trowbridge Award. This award is given for a lifetime
of achievement that has changed the face of the Democratic Party in
Sonoma County,” Gale said.
“Guy is being recognized for his work to both elected Democrats,
such as Senator Pat Wiggins and Senator Noreen Evans, and for his
long-standing commitment to improve the effectiveness of campaigns
waged by all endorsed Democrats,” he added.
Young Democrat of the Year honoree, Michelle Edwards, marketing
and development director at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central
Sonoma County and who worked as campaign manager for 4th District
Supervisor Mike McGuire in the last election was pleased to be
honored.
“I’m honored to receive this award and grateful for the
privilege to have spent the last year working with so many great
community members to elect good Democrats and advocate for issues
that make our community better,” Edwards said.
Tickets for the event are $50 a head. Tickets can be bought
