Matilda A. Coppo died Tuesday Feb. 12, 2008 at Ashley House in
Windsor. She was 90. Tillie was the wife of the late Joseph Coppo
for over 40 years. She is survived by her daughter Virginia
Thompson, 2 grandchildren and nephews, Eugene (Darlene) Ricci and
George Ricci and several great nieces and nephews.
Tillie was born in Virgina, Minnesota. She was one of eight
children, six sisters and one brother. She came to Healdsburg at
the age of 17. Tillie and Joe owned and operated Coppo’s Liquor
Store and Coppo’s Shoe Store in Cloverdale. She was active at St.
Peters’s Catholic Church and taught Catechism. The family wishes to
express the heartfelt thanks to the staff at Ashley House and to
Dr. Robert Gabby for their love and care of Tillie.
Friends are invited to attend visitation, beginning at 4 p.m.,
with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Thursday Feb. 14, 2008 at Fred Young F. H.
428 N. Cloverdale Blvd. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at
10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Cloverdale. Inurnment will
be private at Oakmound Cemetery, Healdsburg. Memorial contributions
may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
