C.H. “Barney” Barnard passed away at his home in Healdsburg on
Jan. 20, 2008. He was a native of Healdsburg, age 108. “Barney” was
the beloved husband of 50 years of the late Faye Barnard and later
married long-time friend the late Maude Robbins. He was the loving
father of Marjorie Barnard and the late Clarence Barnard, Jr.; dear
brother of Ruth Newman of Pebble Beach, Genevieve Gully of
Pleasanton and the late Amee Jennings and Juanita Baumeister;
admired uncle of numerous nieces and nephews; also survived by his
long term caregiver, Joyce Dennis. He was a member of the Board of
Directors for Sunsweet Prune Association in Healdsburg, Board of
Directors for the Irrigation District in Potter Valley, an 87 year
member of the Odd Fellows and 78 year member of the Masonic Lodge.
During World War II he served as a Lieutenant in the California
State Guard. Barney enjoyed family, friends, hunting and fishing. A
memorial to celebrate Barney’s life is Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 from
1 to 4 p.m. at Villa Chanticleer, 1248 N. Fitch Mountain Road,
Healdsburg. Private, Inurnment, Oakmound Cemetery, Healdsburg. If
desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Healdsburg
Museum or a charity of your choice.
