Scarecrows, music, pancakes and pumpkins set for Oct. 25
The Fall Colors Festival & Vintage Car Show will take place on Sunday, Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in downtown Geyserville.
There will be scarecrows, a silent auction, ‘50s music in the streets, food and craft booths, childrens’ games and the Mexican Plaza will be back.
Downtown wineries and restaurants will be open and so will Geyserville Heritage Row, a small museum attached to Bosworth & Son General Mercantile.
Admission to the festival is free, and proceeds from the event go to the Geyserville Unified School District.
“It’s so much fun. It’s a great family day with something for everybody. There’s great food; there will be a Tri-tip booth and Mexican food, and the tasting rooms are open,” said Cosette Trautman-Scheiber, festival chair.
In addition to the festival and car show, the Annual Firemen’s Pancake Breakfast will be served from 8-11 a.m. Tickets will be available at the door.
The Pumpkin Pie Contest will take place after the pancake breakfast. To enter the contest, come to the festival and check in at the Route 128 Winery by 10 a.m.
Pies will be judged in three different categories: prettiest, best tasting and most creative. The three winners will be announced around noon. The prizes are gift certificates to Bosworth and Son General Mercantile.
There will be a scarecrow contest with scarecrows made by classes at Geyserville Elementary School. Three winners will be chosen. A Ballet Folklorico group of Geyserville students will perform in the afternoon.
Geyserville Unified School District Secretary Alina Vanoni Collin said that the senior class at Geyserville New Tech Academy has been soliciting donations for their silent auction table at the festival.
She said that past auction items have included wine and gift certificates to local businesses in Cloverdale, Healdsburg and Geyserville. Proceeds from the silent auction will go towards the senior trip and graduation.
“It’s a good, local hometown festival where you can wander around and look at homemade crafts and support the kids. Almost every class has a food booth, you can look at classic cars and have a nice afternoon in Geyserville,” Vanoni Collin said.
The vintage car show is sponsored by the Geyserville Kiwanis Club. Vintage auto entry applications are available at Bosworth & Son and at www.geyservillecc.com with an entry fee of $35.
Fall Colors is sponsored by a joint effort from the Geyserville Kiwanis and the Geyserville Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors awarded the festival a $750 grant. Trautman-Scheiber said that the Fall Colors Festival has been happening for 39 plus years.
If you wish to further support Geyserville schools, the Geyserville Educational Foundation is organizing a Geyserville Fall Colors Sponsorship via their website, www.geyseref.org. There, you will find a list of items to purchase and donate online. The list includes supplies teachers need in classrooms, such as basketballs, crayons, erasers and folders.
