Healdsburg Elementary School and Healdsburg Charter School held two events recently to celebrate a successful coin drive to support Valley Fire relief efforts.
An emotional assembly Tuesday morning featured students singing and reading to local public safety personnel. After the presentations, students led the firefighters and police officers into the school library, where they watched a video the students made and munched on pumpkin chocolate chip muffins made by the kindergartners.
Last week, a similar assembly, timed around State Senator Mike McGuire’s schedule, featured a presentation of a large check representing $2,618.94 in coins collected by HES/HCS students. “Congratulations everybody, we showed that we really do care,” said second grader Max Morris, who helped present the check to McGuire and representatives from Redwood Credit Union and the Press Democrat, sponsors of the relief fund.
