Friends and family of the late Marion Tingstrom gathered Tuesday to celebrate a small, private street named after Tingstrom.
A 300-foot long alley off North Street, the newly named “Marion Lane” previously had a confusing address numbering system and the city of Healdsburg asked the residents to consider a new name.
Tingstrom (pictured at right) lived on the lane for more than 50 years, raised three children there and worked in a variety of local businesses before her death in 2007.
Neighbors, friends and three generations of Tingstroms attended the ribbon cutting and toasted Tingstrom’s memory with apple cider.
Healdsburg City Councilmembers Brigette Mansell and Gary Plass also attended. Plass grew up nearby and played with the Tingstrom boys as a child.
