Gloria Betty Devries passed away on Nov. 18, 2007 at her home in
Windsor, CA. Gloria was born in Whiting, Indiana on October 6, 1926
to parents Louis and Mary Radvany. She was the dearly beloved wife
of the late Peter DeVries; loving mother of Peter David DeVries
(Lynn), Joan (Chet) Middaugh, Joyce Tyree, Roy (Karen) DeVries and
Wayne (Nancy) DeVries; adored grandmother of Daniel DeVries, and
Robert DeVries (Rachel); great grandmother to Austin, Camren and
Alexis DeVries; dear sister of Violet Thomas and Angie Peres;
preceded in death by brothers William and Walter Radvany and sister
Julia Antal. As a child Gloria was a “tomboy” who loved to fish,
catch pollywogs, and play baseball. After graduating from Whiting
High School where she was valedictorian of her class she later
studied chemistry, physics and psychology at Indiana University and
became a chemist with Federated Metals, where she worked for many
years. She married Peter DeVries in 1951 and later became a
full-time mother. Her family loved to fish and travel together.
They moved to Novato, California in 1961 and then to Santa Rosa
where she started an antique and collectables business. At her
request, no services will be held. The family wishes to thank Dr.
Marek Bozdech and his staff at Redwood Regional Medical Group for
their kind and compassionate care, all of Gloria’s friends and the
staff at Chancellor Place of Windsor.
