To celebrate Fire Prevention Week, the Healdsburg Fire Department will host its annual open house on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All families and friends are invited to meet fire department personnel, watch live demonstrations, participate in fire extinguisher training, and have lunch with Sparky the Fire Dog and Smokey Bear. The fire department staff will be available to teach children about fire safety, exiting, smoke alarms, creating escape plans and calling 911. Agencies invited to participate are the police department, Bell’s Ambulance and Cal Fire. Friends and family are invited.
Healdsburg Fire Marshall Linda Collister offers “a special thank you to all the businesses that donated to help purchase supplies. These supplies will be used to educate children about fire prevention.”
This year’s theme for Fire Prevention Week is “Every Second Counts, Plan Two Ways Out.” The fire department will be giving out a free phone app so families can make an escape plan from their home in case of a fire.
