The Healdsburg Tourism Improvement District (HTID) is seeking an individual from the public to serve on a voluntary committee comprised of one city official and one HTID member to oversee a “Destination Development Fund” that is dedicated to services, improvements and activities that improve the quality of life in the community. This committee will make recommendations to the larger HTID board on where funds should be directed.
Developed by the Healdsburg Chamber of Commerce and the Healdsburg lodging properties the HTID is a benefit assessment district proposed to help fund marketing and sales promotion for lodging businesses. The goal is to improve tourism and promote room stays, consequently growing the Transient Occupancy Tax which is used to fund the city’s Community Services Department.
The HTID was created in 2013 and renewed in 2017. The assessment district includes all of the lodging properties within the city limits including hotels, motels, bed and breakfast lodgings and inns. Of all the funds collected, 22.5 percent will be allocated to destination development.
To serve as the public member of the Destination Development Advisory Subcommittee of the HTID, an individual must meet the following criteria:
• Ability to commit — attend and participate initially in weekly meetings to develop the grant process, 1-2 hours per week and evolve to monthly meetings up to two hours per month once process is established.
• Team Player — ability to work collaboratively.
• Live or work within the boundaries of the Healdsburg Tourism Improvement District.
• An appreciation for the value of tourism in funding city services through the TOT generated by taxes on overnight stays.
• A high level of engagement in the Healdsburg community to understand what funding priorities may be most beneficial to the HTID and the Healdsburg Community.
Length of term: one year.
