Patty Draper passed away suddenly on July 11, 2007 of an unknown
cause at her home in Santa Rosa. She had begun having frequent,
often severe, headaches about five years ago. Born in Mexico City
on March 3, 1975, she moved to San Leandro in 1981 with her parents
Jim and Yolanda and older sister Olga. She attended college at the
Claremont Colleges and U.C. Davis, graduating with Bachelor of
Science degrees in mechanical engineering and business
administration in 1998. She was compassionate, energetic and very
capable and organized throughout her life. Among the many
activities and experiences she enjoyed were being a page in the
U.S. House of Representatives, spending six months of her high
school senior year in Russia, spending a year in Cameroon in the
Peace Corps, living and working at the Bishop’s Ranch for several
months; participating in soccer, whitewater river rafting, cycling,
backpacking and other outdoor activities; quilting, sewing and
origami, and spending time with cherished family, friends and pets.
For the past five years she was a valued employee at Micro-Vu,
utilizing her many engineering, machining, and organizational
skills and had just been hired to teach a class in metrology at
Santa Rosa Junior College. She will be deeply missed by many, many
family members, friends and colleagues. A celebration of Patty’s
life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 28 at The Bishop’s
Ranch, 5297 Westside Road, Healdsburg. (www.bishopsranch.org) In
lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Bishop’s
Ranch, the Healdsburg Animal Shelter or the Bay Area Outreach and
Recreation Program.
