Students participate in “Lunch & Learn” activities
Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Sonoma County has launched its second year of “Lunch & Learn” programs at Fitch Mountain Elementary School. Club staff members, Tamara Lynch and Casey Perez, are at the school every Tuesday and Thursday.
Tuesday is Game Day, where club staff oversee fun and educational games for the students. Most weeks, more than 50 students participate.
Thursday is STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) Day. Club staff conduct programs that encourage students to collaborate and problem-solve together.
In the first week students created marble runs using cardboard, pool noodles and other supplies. The next week they were challenged to build working shoebox foosball tables.
“I’m so proud of our team and grateful to Erika McGuire and Fitch Mountain School for allowing us to work with their students and share some of the impactful programs we do at the Club every day after school,” said Jennifer Weiss, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Sonoma County.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Sonoma County has two locations in Healdsburg; the Healdsburg Clubhouse on Piper Street just above Recreation Park and the club in the Foss Creek Court community.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Sonoma County serves over 3,000 children daily in after school programs in Cloverdale, Geyserville, Healdsburg, Guerneville, Monte Rio, Sebastopol, Windsor, Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Petaluma, Corte Madera and Marin City.
The organization opens its doors every day in clubhouses, elementary schools, middle schools, a teen center, and juvenile hall, with a mission to enable all young people to become caring, productive and responsible citizens.
