Nonprofit dedicated to nourishing neighbors
Farm to Pantry, a Healdsburg-based nonprofit that gleans unused produce and distributes it to food pantries, schools and other distribution sites, held a 10th annual celebration last week.
“The 10th annual celebration was to honor our volunteers, farmers, growers and gleaners for their generosity, kindness, time and commitment to connecting abundance to need in our wider community,” said Connie Newhall, executive director, in a press release.
According to Newhall, in 10 years, Farm to Pantry has gleaned, distributed, and donated 184 tons of produce to 22 partner nonprofits and six low income housing complexes.
“We have provided a continuous supply of fresh, healthy perishable produce to our most vulnerable neighbors who lack access to it by cultivating a community of growers and volunteers. Farm to Pantry is the proven north coast leader capable of harvesting and delivering large quantities of produce, connecting diverse populations and educating the next generation, all in order to improve the health and resilience of our community,” Newhall said.
Newhall praised the organization’s small staff, large volunteer base and donors for allowing Farm to Pantry to flourish.
